PEKAN, PAHANG: The Mandarin Language Society (MLS) with the Centre for Modern Languages & Human Sciences (CMLHS) jointly organised Kem Mandarin (Mandarin Camp) on November 18, 2017, at Pekan campus. There were a total of 197 non- chinese UMP students who participated in this camp. The one-day programme was led by Mdm Kang Mei Feng, the advisor for MLS and joined by other Mandarin language teachers from CMLHS.
The primary objective of the camp was to immerse students in the learning of Mandarin language and popular cultures that are associated with the language. However, before the commencement of the camp, students were instructed to complete a test prepared by the university. While the students were diligently working on the test, the committee members prepared a small exhibition to showcase cultures related to the speakers of Mandarin language. The Kem Mandarin continued at full speed ahead with Explore Race, where the students had to use their knowledge of Mandarin language to clear the station games. The camp ended on a high note with smiling faces and cheers from participating students.
