17th of October 2018 - The Mandarin Language Society (MLS) of University Malaysia Pahang (UMP) successfully organised the Little Dreamer 2018 program at SJK(C) Pei Chai, Kuantan, Pahang.
The event was officiated by a speech from the principle of SJK (C) Pei Chai, Mr. Goh Woon Lai, followed by a speech from the program director of Little Dreamer 2018. The event was also attended by the PK HEM Ms. Phua Lee Yah and the teachers of SJK (C) Pei Chai.
Wong Shao Qing, the director of the program highlighted the importance of having dreams, and how the dreams of children have the potential of shaping the future of the nation. Participants of these programs consisted of 75 standard 5 and 6 students of SJK(C) Pei Chai. The participants were divided into three groups of 25. Three booths were set up, the booths simulated the Hospital, Construction site and Restaurant. Each group took turns visiting each booth, switching booths every 45 minutes.
Students were given the option to roleplay as doctors, nurses and even patients at the hospital. Meanwhile at the restaurant the children were given hands-on tutorial on how to make mooncake and tangyuan (Chinese traditional glutinous rice ball). Finally, at the construction site the children were tested on their architectural creativity and were taught how to build a wall with bricks and cement.
The main objective of Little Dreamer was to pique the interest of the Primary Students in the various occupations that exist, with hopes that these students will not limit their dreams. The committee members of Little Dreamer 2018 were satisfied that their program’s objective has been fulfilled as the school has invited them to organise the program next year.
