Background & Objectives
The Mandarin Language & Culture Centre (MLCC) is a collaborative project between Universiti Malaysia Pahang (UMP) and Hebei University (HBU), China. It was officially launched on 18 January 2011 by the Deputy Minister of Ministry of Higher Education, Dato’ Saifuddin Abdullah. The main objective of the jointly established MLCC is to provide educational opportunities related to Mandarin and Chinese culture leading to the award of mutually recognized certificates for a global and mobile force. Students and the general public who require flexibility and variety of learning experiences could certainly benefit from trainings offered by MLCC.
Though new, MLCC has been proactive in providing training needs to students, professionals and the general public especially in Kuantan. Our strength is in our trainers who have been flown directly from China in order to share their expertise in Mandarin and Chinese culture with the people of Malaysia. Though small, we have been proactive and creative in conducting activities that showcase the unique culture of Chinese and the need to learn Mandarin for survival in today’s challenges.
We are also part of the strong and proactive Centre for Modern Languages & Human Sciences (CMLHS) of UMP. We are proud to be part of this dynamic group and contributing to the growth and successes of CMLHS and the university.
